sparkler treble clef

The choir meets for rehearsals at Upperton United Reformed Church, at the corner of Watts Lane and Upperton Road, on Monday’s at 7.30pm until 9.45pm.
If you can, please let us know that you are coming, by phoning our General Secretary – Evelyn on 01323 643358 (or email supergran009@aol.com) and she will arrange for somebody to look out for you. No knee-knocking coming on your own moments allowed! You will be introduced to a ‘parent member’ who will help you with your music and over a cuppa at break time you will be able to meet fellow choir members.
You are more than welcome to just sit, observe and listen. Or you may decide to pick up some music and sing along as the choir rehearses. You do not have to be able to read music at all but you should be able to hold a note and follow along with musical instruction.

If you decide over the following weeks that you would like to be a member, then to ensure the choir maintains its high standards, you will be required to sing for Adrian or his Assistant Musical Director, Louise. Before your knees start knocking at the thought of this ‘trial’ please be assured it’ll be only a few lines that you’ll be asked to sing which can be from any song of your choice or a suggested one. Just yourself, Adrian or Louise and the pianist and nobody else in the room! This enables the director to ensure that you are singing in the right vocal range and that you are able to hold a tune.

Once you become a member then unfortunately our Treasurer will come looking for membership fees! Currently the subscription rate for a term is £50.00. There are 2 terms – January to June and September to December. This subscription includes all the sheet music you will need for a concert.

You will also need to purchase a choir uniform – black shirt, trousers, socks and shoes for men, black trousers, top, black socks and shoes for women.  Ties and scarves are provided. Choir members can also choose to purchase red Concentus fleeces and black polo shirts too. One further expense will need to be found and that’s 30p for a tea, coffee, or hot chocolate during break time at rehearsals. Bargain!

In short if you enjoy singing and get pleasure from it, are friendly, willing to learn and work hard at rehearsals, can commit to the programme and thrive in being part of making a great sound, we would love to meet you.
