Compose for Concentus Winner

Judging of the entries has now taken place and Concentus is pleased to announce the winner of the competition is Clive Whitburn from Eastbourne, with a composition entitled ‘Pax Amor Caritas’.  The choir is very excited to be incorporating this piece into their Summer concerts this year. 

Assistant Musical Director Lou Soper said “We would like to thank all those who entered.   It was a very tough decision as the entries were of a very high standard; we were so impressed that Concentus are going to make this an annual event.”

Compose for Concentus

Composers are invited to submit works of up to four minutes in length, suitable for performance by a mixed choir (Soprano, Alto, Tenor and Bass) of over sixty voices, a Capella or with piano accompaniment.

Deadline for submissions is February 28th 2018.

The prize is £100 and the winning composition will be performed by the choir in the Summer.

Rules:

One participant can submit no more than two compositions.  A composition cannot be earlier performed, published in any form or awarded in any competition.

Recordings (mp3 format) of the entire composition are highly recommended, but not mandatory.

The Jury of the Competition will comprise the main choir committee and their decision will be final.

The decision will be announced 19th March 2018 on this website

Participating in the Competition, a composer declares that the composition can be performed and recorded for purposes of the choir, without any financial claims from his side, and without being subject to the contingencies of royalties or performing rights payments nor any restrictions on duplication of music for copying purposes in aiding distribution of scores to performing members.
